Blind Ambition

Charlie Boswell has always been one of my heroes. He has inspired me and thousands of others to rise above circumstances and live our true passion. Charlie was blinded during World War II while rescuing his friend from a tank that was under fire. He was a great athlete before his accident and in a testimony to his talent and determination he decided to try a brand new sport, a sport he never imagined playing even with his eyesight . . . golf!

Through determination and a deep love for the game he became the National Blind Golf Champion! He won that honor 13 times. One of his heroes was the great golfer Ben Hogan, so it truly was an honor for Charlie to win the Ben Hogan Award in 1958.

Upon meeting Ben Hogan, Charlie was awestruck and stated that he had one wish and it was to have one round of golf with the great Ben Hogan.

Mr. Hogan agreed that playing a round together would be an honor for him as well, as he had heard about all of Charlie's accomplishments and truly admired his skills.

"Would you like to play for money, Mr. Hogan?" blurted out Charlie.

"I can't play you for money, it wouldn't be fair!" said Mr. Hogan.

"Aw, come on, Mr. Hogan...$1,000 per hole!"

"I can't, what would people think of me, taking advantage of you and your circumstance," replied the sighted golfer.

"Chicken, Mr. Hogan?"

"Okay," blurted a frustrated Hogan, "but I am going to play my best!"

"I wouldn't expect anything else," said the confident Boswell.

"You're on Mr. Boswell, you name the time and the place!"

A very self-assured Boswell responded "10 o'clock . . . tonight!"

Whats the moral of the story?

1. Winners do it inspite of the problems

2. When we are achieving best results, we forget that its because of certain qualities nature has provided us by birth free of cost and we take it as fundamental right, keep asking for more. Gratitude is missing all the time. Can we trade off our eyes, hands or legs or anything with any amount of money or can we even think of surviving without these born free of cost things, real winners do it in spite of problems, losers look out for problems.

1. Run 1 Mile in Somebody else's Shoes, then run another mile in your own. Not only will you appreciate your shoes, you'll have endorphins flowing through your veins to a level that will not permit hostility to fester.
2. Give something away to someone you don't like. Their indebtedness to you cures many angry woes.
3. Practice random acts of kindness, just to throw off your enemies.4. Do NOT respond to negative energy with negative energy, because neg + neg = you both lose. Remember that people who are negative to you, are only responding to how they feel inside, and you don't have to accept their negative energy.  Respond with love.  Try it.
5. If you have negative energy, go take a hot bath or sauna, and let it dissipate before you share it with others.  No one really cares about negative energy you might have so why share it?
6.Get some exercise.  Negative energy can creep up on you when your life is out of balance, and getting physical is a super way to dissipate the heat/negative emotions you might be having.
7. Raise your standards now.  How can you be negative when you've decided that is not how you want to live your life?

Bonus Tip: Try changing your physiology. You'll find that it is hard to be negative when you are smiling, looking straight up or laughing.
